Discussion: Cosmetic surgery; vanity or necessity?

More people are opting for cosmetic surgery due to feelings of unhappiness with their current body. Do you think societal expectations and images from the media promote the ‘perfect body’ for women to aspire to or do you think it is an individual choice?

  2. No, i dont believe that it comes just from the media. It's when people go shopping aswell and there are different sizes, and also when you see other people out and about that also have a 'perfect' body which you might like, and start to compare themselves with others and friends.

  3. I believe that it is entirely up to the individual if they want to have cosmetic surgery. I think they could be influenced a little by the media as the celebritites have made it more common!
